"2FA," What Is Two-Factor Authentication? Two-factor authentication (also called "2FA," or "two-step verification") is a security precaution that provides an extra layer of protection to your coins.ph account.
It is a process that requires users to verify their identity using two ways: after logging in with your username and password, you will also be asked to enter a code that is sent to your mobile phone, through an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy.
Two-factor codes are unique, randomly generated, constantly refreshing and therefore very difficult to hack. Since the chances of another person also having access to your mobile phone is significantly slim, your coins.ph account will be much better protected.
In short, when you enable 2FA, our site will be better able to distinguish whether it's really you that's logging into your account.
To find out how to enable two-factor authentication for your account, watch our 2FA tutorial video above, or read our step-by-step guides. How Do I Enable Two-Factor Authentication On My Coins.Ph Account Using Google Authenticator?
We highly recommend all coins.ph users to enable two-factor authentication on their account. You can do this by logging in and going to your Account Settings page, then following the steps below.
How to enable two-factor authentication on your coins.ph account:
1. Download and install the Google Authenticator app.
Google Authenticator is available for iOS and Android.
For more information on installing Google Authenticator on your device, click here: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/1066447?hl=en
2. Go to your coins.ph Account Settings page, and click "Enable."
Log in to your coins.ph account, and click your email address on the upper right corner then choose settings (or go to https://coins.ph/app/settings/account).
Look under "Two-Factor Authentication" and click the "Edit" button.
You will be redirected to a page with a QR code, similar to this:
3. Open your authenticator app and add an entry.
If using the QR code option on Google Authenticator:
Open the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone and click on the "edit" button (pencil icon on the upper righthand side).
Click the "+" button at the bottom of the screen.
This will bring you to a screen with two options: "Scan barcode," and "Manual entry." Click "Scan barcode," then capture the QR code on the coins.ph page with your phone camera.
The app will immediately generate a 6-digit verification code for your account. This code changes every 30 seconds (you will know it is about to change when the font turns red and starts blinking).
Whenever you log on to your coins.ph user account, you will be asked, first to enter your user email and password, and then to provide the latest verification code generated by Google Authenticator.
